Our Story

A minimalist illustration featuring a blue butterfly hovering above two light blue leafy branches, arranged in a semi-circular pattern, evokes the graceful touch often appreciated by a caring veterinarian. The white background accentuates the serene scene. Dr. Michelle with Jumpin Jack Flash. A woman with long, wavy dark hair and a big smile is holding a small black and white dog. They are both posing in front of a brick wall. The woman, who appears to be a veterinarian, wears a light brown jacket and a green top.

Meet Dr. Michelle The story of Dr. Michelle starts with being both a veterinarian and a pet owner. Having been on both sides of the euthanasia process, she knows how difficult it is to make that decision and to lose your best friend. Many years ago, she lost her beloved rescue greyhound to a very painful illness and made the difficult decision to euthanize unexpectedly at the specialist’s office. Even as a veterinarian she wished she had been provided with more guidance and the reassurance that she made the right decision. A woman crouches beside a large tan dog in a grassy, wooded area. She smiles while holding the dog, which has its tongue out. The background is lush with green trees and sunlight filtering through the leaves.

Dr. Michelle’s Education
Dr. Michelle’s path in veterinary medicine has always been guided by a deep respect for the human–animal bond.

She holds a master's degree in animal behaviour and welfare and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2016. Since then, she has pursued specialized training to support families with both clinical expertise and compassionate care.

She completed the Peaceful Euthanasia Master Program through the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy (CAETA) and is a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian (CHPV®).

To further support grieving families, Dr. Michelle is also a Certified Pet Loss Counsellor and has completed the Pet Loss and Grief Companioning Certification through Two Hearts Pet Loss Center.

These experiences have shaped the gentle, holistic approach she brings to every home visit.

My Guiding Light Since then, her passion has been to support owners through this last phase of their pet’s lives and to help navigate these tough choices with little to no regret. Dr. Michelle has helped hundreds of families say goodbye to their beloved pets. She is professional, caring, compassionate, and skilled. She chose to dedicate her work to end-of-life care, understanding that these final moments create memories that will last a lifetime. A person with long dark hair cuddles a black and white dog, holding it close to their face. The dog appears content with its eyes closed. Against a brick wall backdrop, the person, perhaps a caring veterinarian, wears a light-colored top.

"Although I see many tears, they are tears of love and it shows how important our pets are to us. That human-animal bond is so very special. It is such an honor to help maintain that bond until the very last moments and to me that is why I continue to do what I do." Genuine empathy "Having been able to connect with an owner and to have had a positive impact on them. Sometimes that might be providing them with support through time, listening and simply just caring during one of the most difficult times, being able to provide their pet with the most dignified and peaceful passing their pet deserves." The paws, reminiscent of a veterinarian's charts, are arranged in a diagonal pattern, giving the impression of a path or trail.
